The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it. 4. Equality of reward for equal deeds. 5. The right to express their opinion and be heard. 6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more. 7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice. 8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can’t stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.) 9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations). 10. Is a woman’s period a right or a privilege?
That’s not the case at all. God sent prophets in every age, and sent down revelations for the guidance of mankind, but they got corrupted by the people. It is mentioned in the Quran that there has never been a nation or a tribe to whom God never sent a warner. Abraham, Moses, Jesus were all prophets of God. And Muhammad(PBUH) was the last and final prophet of God who was given the final revelation(The Quran). So all the people born prior to Prophet Muhammad’s(PBUH) time, did have the knowledge.
What about before Abraham & Moses? I’ve always wondered about, for example, the Incas in
South America or the Africans who worshipped trees etc?
Prophethood started right from Adam and ended with Muhammad(PBUH). Human beings had always been given guidance from God through chosen men called Prophets. But people always went astray. And started worshipping things which they could see or imagine. Or things which they thought, had some superior or unique qualities than humans. Like, the sun, fire, or trees as you mentioned. So God kept sending his messengers to correct the thoughts of those people. But many of them refused to believe.
That’s still the case though. Muhammad has failed to convert the vast majority of the planet. Besides you’ve sort of ducked my question, with respect, I’m interested which Prophet preached to the prehistoric Incas? Were they denied the chance to convert?
Well, he converted as much people during his lifetime as he could(in the midst of extreme turmoil). And more Muslims are now present in the world than ever, and the numbers are still rapidly growing. And according to Muslim belief, prophethood ended 1400 years ago with the final message being revealed to Muhammad(PBUH). I have no idea which prophet came to warn the Incas. And any nation was denied the chance to convert, only when they refused to listen to the warner or prophet, as a whole.
A few more things I would like to add. According to Islamic belief, it is the responsibility of the Muslims to convey the message to every nation which came into existence after the end of prophethood. And to a certain extent they did. But even before that, they were warned by prophets themselves. As far as the Incas are concerned, they must have gone astray after their prophet left. And started worshiping trees.
When talking in terms of sociology and legal protection, the term “equal” does not carry the exact same meaning as it does in math. I’m not saying he doesn’t make a well put point, and he addresses this issue about 6 minutes in. But it’s still a kind of verbal ’slight of hand’ so to speak.
What if a woman dont wish to give birth.. does the same rules apply?
