He argues that in the long run it’s not the size of the army that matters as much as a country’s ability to influence the world’s hearts and minds.TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. You are right. I dont know what is McAulean Bastardism.. just like the 99.999% of people in this world, who dont know what it is.
As shit being your staple food…… As only you (out of all, in this forum), can understand one shit from other…. AND…. As McAulean Bastardism being one of those shits fed to you by those Chinmayanandas and Sawarkars…………WHY DON’T YOU enlighten rest of people in the board what it exactly is ???
I will be standing by to applause once you have finished!
@mrmaciejm :
you must be from the dark ages . there is nothing ‘western’ about the technology we use .
pentium chip and microprocessor technology was invented by an Indian. most of the laser technology patents are owned by indians in america ( dr. bhaumik being the giant of them ).
there are many many other examples – in the ancient times , indian numerals were known to europe as ‘ arabic numerals’ because the arabs passed them from india !
india is the mother of the world.
growup
Yes we absorbed clothing, technology and quite a few other things too from west. At the same there were lots of other things at the disposal of west which we Indians never absorbed. Things like racism, teenage pregnancy, divorces, polygynism and invading other countries.
As a nation we have lots of problem… but with the pace we are moving now, it wont take much long to get out of the woods. And when we are out, we will still be with the big family of gods.
@jerkrichie :
you definitely were made of shit – pinko fascists like you have no idea what india is , was or will be.
India is secular because it is 80% Hindu. the day India is 80% Muslim , Christian or Maoist like you – India will be………………what ? finish the sentence if you can .
dont belch your fascist shit here.
are you so terrorised by your own culture and children of india ?
i have a solution for you – get off your shit diet – if at all you are Indian.
@cosmicintellect – India is secular because India has 90% INDIANS. The remaining 10% shithead retards like you will get your ass whipped by rest 90%, no matter what religion you are. So keep your idiotic theories up in your terrorist ass itself. And wait till it get blown up by the real INDIANS (PS – Blowing your head will spread more shit, thats why we chose blowing your ass.).
@cosmicintellect – Now answers to questions you asked :
Q1) I cant.. neither I dont care. And unlike your terrorist asshole, I dont give a shit about another fellows faith / religion, as long as they are Indian.
Q2) No we are not terrorised… and we will bomb you retards from our country if you continue doing this. Hindutvas, Jihadis and Maoist Revolutionaries are no one’s childern and their culture is that of a pig in dirt dont try to connect those to India’s culture.
@cosmicintellect – You are such a chicken.
You posted shitty comments in profile and then deleted my reply from your profile ? though it didnt had a bad word.
And you blocked me from commenting on your profile. What happened girl ?.. your balls drop off ??
You have a long way to go and probably you get there in few generation, but for now… you must admit, it is not a country of roses and chocolate.
I don’t think Shashi Tharoor referred to India being a super power but he did, and rightly so, did refer to it as a soft power. But, yes, Indians (me included) do run the risk of complacency by referring to us as the next super/regional/asian/asia-pacific power, as we are miles away from it. And your comments in that respect are true, though, they are completely out of context w.r.t what Tharoor is speaking about..
I’ve been listening to a lot of these TED talks with a lot of uplifting presentations (with a small share of rather drab ones). But I have to say Shashi Tharoor is almost leaps and bounds better than most. It’s not a surprise to see he was considered for the UN Secretary General, the way he speaks and carries himself is incredible. An omnipresence no podium, text speech, and pauses while being perfectly timed. He is without doubt of one of this century’s best academic orators. Bravo
Mr Tharoor how come der be some Hindu elements some where….as hinduism too was bought in by Aryans, that too after budhism….if at all there are such elements those could be of the ancient tribal cultures and not of hinduism
There’s a big difference in giving speeches about being a super power and implementing it in reality. Indian Government has its own big issues like regionalism, poverty, and also religion and caste issues to deal with. Above all these there is “CORRUPTION”, the biggest beast that always drags India down in its uphill path… It requires high commitment towards achieving World No. 1 status, and India has commitment issues at all levels…
@cosmicintellect
fuck you bitch
absolutely brilliant speech!! he makes me feel proud to be Indian….indeed we need politicians like him for the growth of our weak sides… hats off to him
@t2check Its awesome that you think this way but I’d like to point out to you that you also have alot to be proud of! I know that Pakistan is going through really tough times right now, but the resilience of the people of Pakistan is commendable. I know, being an Indian many of my fellow countrymen are going to bash me for saying this but nonetheless, I’d like to say that a peaceful Pakistan is definitely going to benefit India, in the long run and also the world, in a larger sense. ^^Peace out
@cauztophobic Yes talented money launderer.
@jobinjohn1992 Oh yeah? Tharoor kicked out.
Great speech! way to go Mr.Tharoor
@girl0zone he he dont worry about us
we indians are like the tortoise will come back in the race and will never know it…
suggestion to u is forget abt india as u must be like the hare who jst runs fast without thinking..
like how a bee stings india will come back stronggggggg ,, that day will come
very good speaker, he should be the indian minister representing INdia in the USA, Britain etc as he kills with goood words….
Great
Gr8 Speech. Hats off to Mr. Sasi Tharoor.
Mr Tharoor how come der be some Hindu elements some where….as hinduism too was bought in by Aryans, that too after budhism….if at all there are such elements those could be of the ancient tribal cultures and not of hinduism
Love you Shashi Tharoor.
very moving speech to say the least!
