Bubbles – a GUI for touchscreen mobiles. A new approach to mobile interfaces, based upon the metaphor of climbing a tree. Developed by Ivar Boson, David Christensson, Tomas Lundqvist and Axel Jacobson, interaction design students at K3, Malmö University, Sweden. During development we discussed and received input from The Astonishing Tribe (www.tat.se)

Bra jobbat!
Well done!
Interesting idea, but not effective for a phone. There are way too many button presses and moving icons.
Mobile devices need to take advantage of user conditioning/muscle memory. Imagine your customer is driving down the road trying to open a map. How much harder does your animated, click-happy UI make that?
I’m all for innovation, but I fear you guys missed the mark on this one.
looks cool but also wouldn’t that eat battery like no tomarrow
true that. I’m new to touchscreen phones and i already miss the good ol buttons. however, to compensate this a more mathematical movement can be used instead of a random floating one, and a driving profile can change it back to traditional grid button layout.
